    About BA 

    The Department of Arts at Villa Marie Degree for Women was established in the year 2006. From a student strength of 30 to now 360 students, the department has made significant progress. The programs offered are BA (Political Science, Journalism & Mass Communication, Modern Language) and BA (Psychology, Journalism & Mass Communication, Modern Language) which equip students with writing, technical, theoretical, and practical skills. The department stands out in twin cities because of its unique combination of programs offered. It has always recorded a 100 percent academic excellence and pass percentage at university examinations.

    The faculty and students evolve continuously through national and international level research paper publications.

    The teaching methodology focuses on student-centric learning which includes the usage of ICT tools, experimental learning, guest lectures, flipped classroom, inquiry-based learning, project-based learning, case studies, internships, workshops, group discussions, field trips, and many more.

    The department of Arts Club- Uthikrishta gives a holistic approach to the students to bridge the gap between academics and co-curricular activities. The club consists of 30 students that support the department in all its endeavors.

    The best practices of the department of Arts are Villa Press- The official photography and social media team of the college, Newsletter designing and publication, IAS, and civil coaching to students from different programs, and mental health awareness campaigns.

    MOCK PARLIAMENTThe Department of Arts, Political Science conducts Mock Parliament for all the students of Villa Marie Degree College for Women. The Mock Parliament is an engaging simulation for college students to explore India’s parliamentary process. Participants act as Members of Parliament (MPs), representing different political parties to debate key national issues in a structured format that reflects real parliamentary proceedings. The event features debates, discussions, and voting on proposed bills, providing students with practical experience in legislative processes

    MUN : The Department of Arts, Political Science conducts the MUN–for all the students of Villa Marie Degree college for Women. The day was celebrated to recognize the impact that MUN has in world politics. Model United Nations (MUN) is a simulation of the United Nations where students typically take on the role of delegates representing various countries.

    PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP : The Department of Arts, Mass Communication and Journalism organizes a field visit as a part of the Photography Workshop to Golconda for all the students of BA First Year. It was primarily a bridge between theoretical and practical knowledge as the students developed first hand insights into camera focus, exposure, landscape photography, and lenses, handling equipment, among other technical aspects. It also provides a fantastic opportunity for students to practice capturing historical architecture, landscapes, and intricate details.

    CLICK FEST: Click fest organized by the Department of Arts, Mass communication and Journalism encourages students to experience a glimpse of all the dimensions and aspects of photography consisting of theory as well as practical approaches. The students are encouraged to take distinctive pictures that also comprise a substantial dimension of social message or awareness. The motive behind organizing “Click Fest” is to award the best photos captured by the students and to further encourage and nurture their talent.

    FLICK FEST: Flick Fest, hosted by the Department of Arts for BA students, is a vital platform for showcasing creativity and artistic expression. It encourages teamwork, critical thinking, and collaboration among students. By providing opportunities to explore different forms of art and media, it enhances communication skills, cultural awareness, and fosters personal growth, contributing to the overall development of students.

    BRAINTAINMENT: The Department of Arts organizes Braintainment: Mind Games for the students of Villa Marie Junior and Degree College for Women. Games will be conducted, which includes, matching the cards, finding the hidden object, a schult table, a maze game, stroop test, passing a long, digit span game, among others. These activities are organized to enhance the cognitive development, problem-solving abilities, and memory. Apart from that, these mind games are effective methods of relieving stress, and providing a fun and engaging learning experience.
